From their Facebook Page:
Bliss Goddess music, visual art and temple dance is an alchemy of the ancient, future and eternal present. As sonic shamans, they blend live instruments and ethnic percussion with remixes of the hottest tracks from the best tribal dub and world electronic dance music artists. The music is brought to your eyes by projected visionary art and sacred geometry, while radiant Temple Dancers invoke and embody the Divine Feminine, leading the listener/dancer on a journey across exotic, lush landscapes.
I first discovered BLISS GODDESS earlier this year while doing a Soundcloud search for artists and bands that relate to spirituality in one form or another. I found a live recording of their Jan. 29th show in Austin earlier this year. While listening to them and finding out more about them I realized that that they were from Austin/Dallas, so I immediately liked their Facebook Page which seems to be their only updated page. I also found links to their BandPage.com page and some old videos from their YouTube account but nothing updated.
The first time I saw Bliss Goddess was at their Rites of Spring show April 2nd at The North Door in Austin and second when they opened up for Austin native GOVINDA one of the few times he’s not on the festival curcuit on June 25th. At both shows a few other musicians were playing before them and there were a few vendors selling jewelry, someone doing live painting, as well as massage therapists ready to rub your troubles away while immersed in live music.
Just like their Soundcloud performance located below, they start off each show with a little ritual and offering that goes into a visual and auditory sensory explosion. Throughout their set, while the musicians are playing sacred sounds of tribal dub and sacred world beats, the beautiful temple dancers (tribal fusion, belly dance, ecstatic dance) sway and move that brings the crowd to participate and create the energy and vibe of pleasure and love.
Their next show is this Friday @ the North Door. This performance, titled, “Embracing Shadows”. From thier Facebook page –
“Come, let’s dare to face and embrace–and even dance with–our shadows! Allow the temple priestesses of Bliss Goddess to take you on an exhilarating journey to visit your darker side. This is an opportunity to pleasurably begin to reclaim the parts of ourselves that we’ve kept hidden from the light, and experience the transformative potential of embracing our darkness. This will be one of the juiciest, edgiest, darkest Bliss Goddess shows you’ve been to. Come to experience bliss deeply and darkly.”
