JAN-FEB FAVORITE MUSIC

Every few months I will be placing various music on the right hand sidebar and eventually include some of them in the print. Below is a a track from the EDM (Electronic Dance Music), Heavy Metal, Hip-Hop and Ambient, Christian and Pagan genres.

PORAT – Shiva Tandava Stotram
Porat is an Israeli Producer that creates Ethnic infused Psy-Trance. This song is a Hindu hymn that describes Shiva’s power and beauty, both in creation and destruction

MY SLEEPING KARMA – Moksha
My Sleeping Karma is a German Psychedelic Instrumental Rock band. Their music has a mixture of ambient and melodic pieces infused with a heavier but subtle feel. A multilayer compositions that take the listener on a journey between rock and ambience. Moksha, means freedom from Samsara (the cycle of rebirth). It is the liberation from the material world and the end of suffering.

TRUTHSEEKAH – Meditation
Truthseekah is a Visionary and Esoteric Hip-Hop artist from Alabama that brings a fresh feel to the Hip-Hop genre. Lryrics dealve into the spiritual and esoteric side of reality.

ANILAH – Medicine Chant
Based in the Selkirk Mountains of Western Canada Anilah entwines shamanic drumming and chanting into an etheric sound great for meditation. She uses the voice as a healing modality and creates music which aids in cathartic and transformative experiences.

JESUS CULTURE – Holy Spirit
California based Christian youth ministry group who plays Worship style music that  is to “ignite revival in the nations of the earth; to compel the Body of Christ to radically abandon itself to a lifestyle of worship; to encounter His extravagant love and raw power.” Probably one of my favorite Christian songs outside of Metal Christian bands.

LINDIE LILA – We All Come From the Goddess
Cape Town, South African singer/songwriter Lindie Lila creates soulful and folk style music to honor the sacred form of the goddess. This is one of my favorite versions of “We All Come From the Goddess” outside of the Metal version by BETRAY MY SECRETS.

Good Eats: Houston: Doshi House

20180127_180139.jpg

NAME: DOSHI HOUSE
CUISINE: VEGAN/VEGETARIAN/COFFEE & TEA
LOCATION: 3419 Dowling St. Houston Texas 77004

HOURS: Mon-Fri 8am-8pm, Sat 11am-8pm, Sun 11am-5pm
PRICE RANGE: On the Cheap!

Just a stones throw away from the Montrose District is a quaint and welcoming little coffee and dining spot called Doshi House. Located in Third Ward, Doshi House might be missed if your not paying attention. What looks like an abandoned building houses a very chill spot off the beaten path.

The vibe in there is relaxing and inviting. A mixture of Ambient Chill, Middle Eastern Trance and an eclectic mix of Soul music soothes anyone coming in for a bite to eat or meet others for coffee or tea. Even though there are clear signs of leaking ceilings Doshi House is in the process of renovating and expanding. Owner Deepak Doshi opened up the small cafe over six year ago to help expand his involvement into the community and is now growing the cafe to include a second story balcony.

Besides the chill music, ambient feel and artwork on the walls, is the food. Affordable and tasty. Whether you get a Tofu Masala Empanada with a Strawberry and Banana smoothie or if you’re there for their rotating menu each night, you can eat the “Vegan Not So “Butter Chicken”” on a Saturday or their Vegan Three Bean Chili on Wed., you will not want to miss. Maybe on your way out you can grab a coffee which is locally owned and operated by Greenway Coffee and a vegan chocolate chip cookie from Sinfull Bakery.

Fish Daddy Glass and Top 5 Ways to Help You Get Inspired

fishdaddyFish Daddy Glass and Top 5 Ways to Help You Get Inspired

Fish Daddy Glass is the collaborated effort of “two guys looking to make great glass art” (aka Michael Fisher and Xavier Juarez) from the central Texas region. Saw these guys blowing glass a few days back at Art Haus@Pour Haus in New Braunfels (Between San Antonio and Austin) and was impressed by the quick items that were created, including glass pipes, necklace pieces and little animals. Hip-Hop and Consciousness

Hip-Hop speaks about the struggles and issues within a given community, as well as the expression of accomplishments in life. For many it is a representation of their world and their vision of reality. Below are a variety of Hip-Hop artists that infuse the plight, as well as the powers, in their lives to express humanity with positive vibes.

Krishnacore and Music of Devotion

Quotes-by-Srila-Prabhupada-on-MusicKrishnacore: A sub-genre of punk and hardcore music that is influenced heavily on the teachings and traditions of the Hare Krishna  movement, a spiritual practice within Hinduism that practices the devotion toward Divinity.

Music has the ability to create the energy of transformation. Everyone has their own genre of taste when it comes to their music of choice. Below are some bands that bring together the heavier side of music with the love of devotion to God. These are in no particular order in relation to when the genre came to the collective consciousness. Continue reading “Krishnacore and Music of Devotion”

The Men of the Fifth World (2000)

fifthworldDocumentary: THE MEN OF THE FIFTH WORLD (2000)

A beautiful look into the history, beliefs and lives of the Aboriginal culture of Australia. An enchanting and mystical view of life through one of the elders, who shares his history with the filmmakers. A detailed story seen through the painted rocks left by their ancestors to the hunting methods used for survival. A look into their dance, their song, and their spiritual essence.

Heavier bands that are of interest at moment 12/16/16

BETRAY MY SECRETS
This band is no longer together but I found them while doing search on another band associated with this band, SHIVA IN EXILE as well as a band called SpiRitual. Formed in Germany in 1997 . Favorite song from them is “From the Goddess” which is a heavier version and a mix of “We All Come From the Goddess” from Moving Breath (YouTube) and the “Witches Chant”, which I remember from the band Inkubus Sukkubus (YouTube)

IN HEARTS WAKE – (Website) (Facebook) (Twitter)
Band out of Australia. Fell in love with their Earthwalker CD which came out in 2014. Really looking forward to seeing them when they come to the states in 2017.

TIMES OF GRACE
Another band that is no longer together and only put one album out. Original singer for KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and is now re-singing for them. This was one of the side albums before going back to Killswitch Engage. Had an opportunity to interview him when he was in Times of Grace. Great vocalist.

THE HEALING (Bandcamp) (Facebook)
Actually just found this band today when I was looking up links for previous bands listed above. Their “Elevate” CD came out earlier this year. From Canada. Really enjoying this first listen to them.

Three bands Im totally digging at moment….

MUSIC – BLISS GODDESS

bliss-goddess-logoFrom their Facebook Page:
Bliss Goddess music, visual art and temple dance is an alchemy of the ancient, future and eternal present. As sonic shamans, they blend live instruments and ethnic percussion with remixes of the hottest tracks from the best tribal dub and world electronic dance music artists. The music is brought to your eyes by projected visionary art and sacred geometry, while radiant Temple Dancers invoke and embody the Divine Feminine, leading the listener/dancer on a journey across exotic, lush landscapes.

I first discovered BLISS GODDESS earlier this year while doing a Soundcloud search for artists and bands that relate to spirituality in one form or another. I found a live recording of their Jan. 29th show in Austin earlier this year. Continue reading “MUSIC – BLISS GODDESS”

Quick Finds: BRINA – Jamaican Reggae

Brina – Jamaican Reggae

links: Website Facebook YouTube

image

Reggae Music has always had a strong spiritual connection in their music. Whether your listening to the early sounds of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Gregory Isaacs, and Lee Perry to the more modern sounds of Shabba ranks or Buju Banton, somewhere, within the music is a spiritual connection to God (Jah). I came across Brina awhile back through a Bahai Faith Facebook page, which lead me to the video below, which is a montage of pictures and quotes while her soulful voice singes about peace and love as well as the essence of harmony. Really nice and soothing and hitting the spot.

image

Brina has five CDs with the most recent, released Sept 2014, being “Reggae Sauti Za Kiswahili,” an EP that brings Brina’s Jamaican Reggae to Africa while sung in Swahili. You can check out her music at her Bandcamp page.

For more info check out the video below and check out her Facebook Page.

Quick Finds: SPIRAL DANCE – Pagan Alternative Folk Rock

SPIRAL DANCE – Pagan Alternative Folk Rock
links: Website – Facebook –  ReverbNation

imageFound this Pagan Folk band from Adelaide, Australia through their facebook page and really loved not only the beautiful voice of singer Adrienne Piggott but the eclectic blend of electric instruments (drums and guitar) as well as other instruments such as the fiddle, accordion and tribal drums. They bring together the Folk sound and feel of traditional songs as well as a more modern electric light Rock feel on others. They have links of their songs on their Facebook and ReverbNation sites where you can get a glimps of their sound. Their musical focus is on the concepts of magic, myth and legend. Fave tracks from the clips include “Goddess and teh Weaver” (should that be ‘the’?), “Holly Lord”, and “Magick” which seems to have a bit more Rock feel through it.

imageThe band has been together since 1992 and have released seven albums including a live album called “Worts ‘n’ All.” Their most recent CD, “Through a Sylvan Doorway” was released on 15th July 2012. They have a new track released in August 2014 called “Wickerman” which is inspired by their annual English Ale Festival. You can listen and buy the song at their Bandcamp Page. If your into Pagan Folk music this may be a good band you may want to check out.

God’s Not Dead Movie Review

image

Just watched Gods Not Dead and thought it was a great movie, especially for it being Christian based. While most movies from the Christian camp seem to be watered downed in substance and fluffed up, this one has a bit more of a bite to it and has substance in the revelance of what it means to have faith, question doubt and be a believer in Christ.

CD Review: Love Within: Beyond – Regula Curti, Tina Turner, Dechen Shak-Dagsay, and Sawani Shende-Sathaye

LOVE WITHIN BEYOND Regula Curti, Tina Turner, Dechen Shak-Dagsay, and Sawani Shende-Sathaye
A review by Barbara Bullock

Ever since the first Beyond CD release I have been one of the greatest admirers of the Beyond projects. Since the beginning I felt that these projects are really extraordinary and God sent into our world at this time. Divine timing is not always understood by us humble and sometimes impatient human beings, yet our mysterious universe knows exactly when the time is right. I feel that humanity has recently entered a new level of consciousness. More and more people around the world are opening up to the idea of the subconscious level.

POETRY: The Reenactment of the Soul

The Reenactment of the Soul

‘What beauty lies within the forgotten’

We enter this play with the spirit and furor that only an infant exuberates.
The role of a life time commences through the acts and scenes, the comedies and tragedies that create the passions of life.
Our roles are played to the tee, conscious and unconscious of what manifests.
When the final chapter unfolds the realization sets in, the curtain shall fall for evermore and your life, your role, will cease.
Yet, tomorrow another show will appear on the marquee, another role for you the actor to play.
How well will you play your part this time around?

RANT: Two documentaries on the hardships of the Australian Aboriginals

After watching two documentaries on the struggles of the Aboriginals of Australia I realize how upset I get over the struggles indigenous cultures have had throughout the ages. ‘Our Generation’ and ‘Utopia’ show the struggles Aborigines have and still have against the modern ‘civilised’ world in Australia. When I watch movies like Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman ‘Australia’ I see the hypocrisy in what the world sees as the ‘white Australia’ yet seeing these documentaries you see the arrogance and discrimination that is still going on.
